Long Thanh Villa

A Peaceful Retreat for Retirement

Designed and constructed post the Covid-19 pandemic, Long Thành Villa has become a tranquil retreat for the retired couple, longing to reconnect with family members, live close to nature, and indulge in simple pleasures in their old age.

Although the plot of land is spacious, we have utilized an appropriate architectural scale to ensure that the architectural structure harmonizes with the entire garden area.

CONCEPT

In the midst of the available lush greenery, the design is oriented towards allowing all spaces within the house to fully embrace nature. Thus, the structural composition is kept simple with two rectangular boxes sliding atop one another, and the method of cutting the volume creates voids to weave through and establish small gardens within the larger garden compound.

BUFFER ZONES

Thanks to this block-shaped structure, the design creates buffer zones: corridors, spacious verandas, shaded roofs, auxiliary blocks (elevator, garage, secondary kitchen)... These important spaces allow the main core areas (kitchen, living room, and bedrooms) to have wide views of the garden through large glass doors from floor to ceiling. Additionally, they reduce the impact of sunlight and high temperatures from the west. Furthermore, the open buffer zones with shaded roofs and airy corridors provide optimal ventilation conditions for the main spaces within the core area of the house.

SMALL GARDENS

The back of the house is designed to be quiet, with a lawn and a bamboo slat canopy above, where the owner can hang bird cages, a hobby of his in his old age. The front yard is a lawn with a few trees at key viewpoints, located next to the yard of the neighboring brother's house, which serves as a place for family gatherings. In addition, on the side of the house, adjacent to the existing garden (the reserve land of the Investor), is a lawn with a fish pond and a canopy, which is also an effective complement to the overall shape of the house, creating a quiet view and drawing attention to the main house.

FACADE

In addition, the design proposes a system of rotating bamboo slat doors for the facades. This local material is reminiscent of the familiar bamboo screens and fences in Vietnamese houses, and is in line with the discreet yet impressive spirit of the villa.
